Technicians, General IDS
Frederick Asamoah, CPhT
Frederick (Freddie) worked with the Sterile Products Area at UNC Medical Center for 9 years from 2006 -2015 and the OR Pharmacy for 2 years before he joined the IDS team on August 14, 2017. He is a soccer fan and his favorite team is CHELSEA FC in England.
Daniel Galeana, CPhT
Daniel Galeana is from California and has been in pharmacy since 2008. He has worked in retail, the IV room here at UNC and in the OR pharmacy. He has been with IDS for a year and loves what he does. He has 4 kids and 2 dogs with his wife. He currently live in Durham and is also a youth soccer coach.
Marcia Gibson, CPhT
Marcia Gibson has been working at UNC Health for 24+ years in both Central Inpatient and Pediatric Pharmacy. She transitioned strictly to Pediatric Pharmacy in Summer of 2017 and joined the IDS team in July 2018.
Caressa Goss, CPhT
Caressa is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and has been working in pharmacy for 13 years. She has worked in retail and prior authorizations then came to work for UNC in the inpatient narcotic vault in July 2015. She recently came to IDS in December 2018 and enjoys being a part of such a wonderful team. She has a two year old son who keeps her busy and likes to go to the beach to relax in her spare time.
Pamela Jones, CPhT
Pam Jones has worked in Pharmacy for 39 years. She worked in Retail for 7 years, Kaiser Permanente Outpatient for 12 years and at UNC Outpatient, Day Op and IDS for 20 years She enjoys living the Lake Life at Kerr Lake when not working.
Joshua Lee, CPhT
Josh Lee is originally from Illinois. He has been a technician with UNC Health IDS since July 2019. Prior to joining the IDS team he worked as an i.v. room technician. Outside of work he enjoys hiking and fishing.

Caroline Blackwell, CPhT
Caroline has worked in pharmacy for 13 years, she joined the Cancer IDS team in 2016, after working retail for 10 years. In her spare time she loves spending time with her 2 girls, shopping and reading.
Briana Gutfinski, CPhT
Briana grew up in Maine and moved to North Carolina in 2014. She’s worked in the retail and mail-order/specialty pharmacy fields before joining UNC in July 2017. She’s greatly enjoyed learning more about clinical research and data management through her role in Oncology IDS, and takes pride in her meticulously updated spreadsheets.

Maria Bullis, PharmD
Maria Cruz Bullis received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2011. She went on to complete a pharmacy practice residency at WakeMed Health & Hospitals. Maria has worked as a clinical pharmacist in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as a medical information and adverse event reporting pharmacist in industry prior to joining the IDS team at UNC Health in 2018. Prior to pharmacy school, Maria obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Kean University. After graduation, Maria worked as a research assistant at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where her love of clinical research was born. While in IDS, Maria has served as lead pharmacist on numerous studies, precepted pharmacy students on exploration days, helped develop and implement new processes, and collaborated with colleagues on process improvement.
Kristen Gray, PharmD
Kristen Gray attended the Eshelman School of Pharmacy from 2012 to 2016. She went on to complete her PGY1 residency at the University of Wisconsin where she stayed on as a Decentral Cardiology Pharmacist. She joined the UNC Investigation Drug Services team in May 2019 and works in both General IDS and Cancer IDS.
Sarah Law, PharmD
Sarah Law is an Asheville native, but she has been in the area for a long time since she attended UNC Chapel Hill for her undergraduate and pharmacy degrees. She began her practice in 2017 in home infusion, and transitioned to UNC IDS in September 2019. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, yoga, sprint triathlons, trying new recipes and spending time with her husband and her daughter.
Holly Milner, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP
Holly Milner received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Wingate University. Following graduation she completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and a PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at VA San Diego. Prior to joining the UNC Investigational Drug Services team in 2020, she worked as a Medical Intensive Care Unit Pharmacist with Sharp Healthcare in San Diego, California. Holly finds it rewarding to contribute to the diverse and cutting-edge research at UNC. As a North Carolina native, she is excited to be back in the area. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
Jennifer Thompson, PharmD
Jennifer Thompson graduated from Campbell University School of Pharmacy in 2000. Jennifer has an extensive pharmaceutical background including medical information, long-term care, and over 12 years of clinical hospital experience, specializing in emergency medicine and sterile product preparation. Prior to attending pharmacy school, Jennifer graduated from UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Working in this non-traditional pharmacy role has allowed her to combine her love of pharmaceuticals while utilizing her background in auditing, inventory control, and business process improvement. While in IDS, she has been instrumental in implementing the centralized IDS model at various other UNC Health locations. Jennifer loves the work and is excited to be part of such an outstanding team at UNC Health.
William Zhao, PharmD, PhD
William began his career as a clinical pharmacist in Ambulatory Care Services at UNC in January 2004. He transitioned to his current position in Investigational Drug Services in 2013. Prior to joining UNC, William was a faculty member at Duke and VA, and he published extensively in the field of pulmonary diseases and related topics in peer-reviewed scientific journals. William is a pharmacist and a scientist by training. He has considerable experiences in both pharmaceutical care and clinical research as well as multidisciplinary studies collaborating with a full spectrum of both patients and health care providers.
Diana Nowicki, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, AAHIVP
Diana N. Nowicki received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Pharmacy. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Cook County Health where she focused on patients living with HIV, HCV, infectious diseases and other chronic conditions at the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center outpatient clinics, inpatient at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, and within the Cook County Jail. Her experience led her to work at a Howard Brown Specialty Pharmacy on Chicago’s southside, AMITA Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center and teaching at Malcolm X College – City Colleges of Chicago on Chicago’s westside. As her role at UNC Health grows, she continues to foster her passion of pharmacy through her work on clinical trials to reach more patients with groundbreaking research.
Pharmacists, Cancer IDS
Jamie Chuu, PharmD
Jamie Chuu is a pharmacist for Oncology Investigational Drug Services at UNC Health. She attended UNC for both undergraduate and pharmacy school. Jamie started out in retail pharmacy and transitioned to the UNC chemotherapy infusion pharmacy prior to joining IDS. Jamie has an adorable Golden Retriever named Riley and enjoys trying new restaurants in her free time.
Kristen Gray, PharmD

Sharon Guerry, RPh
Sharon Guerry is a staff pharmacist in oncology IDS (Investigational Drug Services). She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and has more than 3 decades of pharmacy experience, including more than 10 years in oncology IDS. She enjoys the details of getting investigational products prepared correctly, to treat a specialized patient population. Hobbies include, vegetable gardening, reading and cross-stitch.
Jordan Smith, PharmD
Jordan Smith is a pharmacist with Investigational Drug Services at UNC Health. She attended Wingate University School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 residency at the Salisbury VA Health Care System. She has a passion for providing optimal care for patients and is excited to be on the forefront of medication in her position with IDS.
Reimbursement Analyst
Justin Davis is the Reimbursement Analyst for IDS at UNC Health. Born and raised in NC, Justin came to the triangle area for his undergrad degree in Business Management at North Carolina State University. Prior to joining IDS in January 2021, he spent a number of years working in corporate America. Outside of work, he enjoys visiting new places, hiking new trails, and most of all, spending time with his wife, daughter and son.
Resident Manager
Greg Norsten, PharmD
Greg Norsten is a PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Resident at UNC Health and currently serves as the Resident Manager for Investigational Drug Services. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin and Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He finds his work rewarding, as the IDS team plays a role in developing future therapies that improve patient care.

Shirouk Muhsen, PharmD, MHA
Shirouk Muhsen attended Xavier University School of Pharmacy in New Orleans, Louisiana. She joined Ochsner Health System in New Orleans as a staff pharmacist and became Manager of Retail Pharmacy at Ochsner. Shirouk was appointed as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Clinical Administrative Sciences in the College of Pharmacy during her time at Ochsner. Shirouk continued on to receive her Masters in Health Administration from Louisiana State University of Shreveport. She has much experience in collaboration with patients and health care providers. Shirouk has recently transitioned over to her current position in Investigational Drug Services, and is happy to be part of the UNC pharmacy team.”
